Professional Liability Insurance for Real Estate Agents & Realtors

Businesses offering professional advice in the real estate industry are regarded as experts and are therefore often held to a higher standard. If something goes wrong or your clients become upset, you have the potential to be held accountable for costly damages, regardless of whether you have done anything wrong.

A Professional Liability insurance policy can help protect your real estate business in these instances. Also known as Errors and Omissions (E&O) insurance, this type of policy protects your business against claims of negligence, misrepresentations, or mistakes. Professional Liability claims are typically made by clients who allege some form of financial damage as a result of your services, products or employees.

Professional Liability insurance for real estate agents will pay your legal fees (up to the limits of liability) resulting from a related claim. This includes settlements and judgements, which alone could cost thousands of dollars. Without a policy, you would be responsible for paying these costs from your own pocket, which could easily lead to bankruptcy, business closure, or emptying your personal savings.

Claims do not have to be true to be financially devastating for real estate agents. Even a baseless claim and resulting lawsuit could lead to the negative outcomes listed above. They can also blemish your professional reputation. Professional Liability insurance for real estate agents will cover you even if the claim presented has no merit, so you can defend yourself and get back to work as soon as possible.

General Liability Insurance for Real Estate Agents & Realtors

General Liability is the most basic form of business insurance policy. This type of policy can protect you against any claim by an outside party regarding injury or damage to their property. In these instances, your policy will cover your legal expenses as well as your cost to replace or remedy the situation up to the limits of liability.

When real estate agents and realtors rent office space, they are often required by landlords to have a General Liability policy in place. Additionally, professionals who visit their clients’ premises may also be required to have a General Liability policy in effect.

General Liability may also cover advertising injury and personal injury claims related to the operation or advertising of your business. These can include claims of libel, slander, defamation, or copyright infringement. Real estate agents and realtors might consider seeking a General Liability policy that covers them for these types of claims, which are common in the field.

Business Owner’s Policy (BOP) for Real Estate Agents & Realtors

A Business Owner’s Policy (BOP) can protect professionals in your industry against a wide range of business-related risks. Any real estate agent or realtor who rents office space or own business property should consider purchasing this inclusive package.

A BOP is a convenient package of insurance that protects your business against the common risks it faces every day. The BOP product includes various coverages that may suit the unique requirements of your small business. Insurance included in a BOP can vary but usually they include protection for typical small business risks such as property damage, business interruption and liability.

A BOP is a convenient insurance package that shields small businesses against everyday risks they are likely to face. Insurance included in a BOP can vary but they typically include protection for common small business risks such as property damage, business interruption and liability.

Real estate agents and realtors can customize their BOP to include other forms of coverage that are relevant to their profession. This might include protections such as non-business owned automobile liability and employee dishonesty. If you rent or own office equipment, you can also add coverage for your business equipment and property.

FEEDBACK: In my personal opinion, your telephone customer service needs to be improved. Whomever basically and initially answers the phone calls lately needs a new headset, honestly. I know you record all of your calls; however, listening skills truly needs to be improved also, IMO and if I ask someone to please take a message, and they tell me they are going to do so, then follow through and send that message to the main person I'm trying to reach. I have had difficulty getting back to the "exact" insurance agent with whom I've been working with and it's been a bit frustrating handling this current 2025-2026 renewal.
BizInsure has always been a necessary and important business resource.
