What is Electrician Insurance?

Electrical work is dangerous. Even if your skills and experience are high it is possible to make a mistake that results in causing injuries to yourself, fire damage, or property damage. The most damaging part is that it could lead to an expensive lawsuit.

Electrical contractor insurance protects against financial losses that can be devastating due to injuries, property damage or other risks that are associated with the trade.

(Electrical contractor insurance is a shorthand term for different kinds of insurance policies that you could consider protecting your Idaho business.)

Why do electricians need insurance in Idaho?

Working on electrical systems in Idaho can be hazardous, whether you are a residential or commercial electrician. Every electrician faces the risk of fires, injury caused by live wires, and accidental damage to their clients’ property.

Idaho electricians can benefit from business insurance to cover common risks. If you do not have insurance, you could be liable for paying expensive legal fees, compensation costs and other unexpected costs that can drain your bank account.

What types of insurance do Idaho electricians need?

Electrical contractors can choose among a variety of coverage options. BizInsure offers comprehensive and affordable coverage for electricians.

General Liability Insurance

General Liability insurance can protect you against any claim by an outside party regarding injury or damage to their property. In these instances, your policy will cover your legal expenses as well as your cost to replace or remedy the situation up to the limits of liability.

Many electrical contractors consider this as their primary insurance policy. This coverage shields electrical contractors from lawsuits, and financial responsibility arising from accidents. It covers:

  • Property damage caused to a third party.
  • Third-party injuries

Electrician General Liability insurance provides coverage regardless of whether a claim has been filed.

Business Owners Insurance

Business Owners Policy (BOP) is a convenient package of insurance that protects your business against the common risks it faces every day. The BOP product includes various coverages that may suit the unique requirements of your small business. Insurance included in a BOP can vary but usually they include protection for typical small business risks such as property damage, business interruption and liability.

Professional Liability insurance

Professional Insurance Liability policy (also known as Errors and Omissions or E&O insurance) is an essential policy that protects you and your company in case of a lawsuit due to alleged professional wrongdoing.

Professional Liability insurance covers incidents like:

  • Not giving the correct advice regarding accessibility, or any other building standards
  • There is a defect in your work that requires clients to pay for new materials or additional work
  • Even if this isn’t true, a client may claim that you have acted negligently

Workers Compensation Insurance

Workers’ Compensation policy protects you against medical expenses and lawsuits that can arise from employee workplace injuries and illnesses. It could also pay lost wages as a result of the work injuries that an employee sustains.

Protection for equipment and tools

You will not be successful without the equipment and tools you need as an Idaho electrical contractor.
Tools and Equipment coverage will protect you from financial loss due to unexpected events.

Cyber Liability Insurance

Electrical contractors should be aware of the risks associated with cyber security. Data breaches are on the rise. Cyber Liability is a way to cover the costs of recovering from an incident. This includes legal fees, credit monitoring of the affected individuals and notification costs.

How much does electricians insurance cost in Idaho?

Electricians insurance cost in Idaho is affected by many factors. This includes contractual requirements, number of employees employed and any other risks which are connected to your work.

An electrical contractor working alone will pay less for insurance than a business that has many electricians. The cost of electrical business insurance is affected:

  • Revenue and size of the company
  • How many employees are covered under the policy.
  • What are the services offered (residential or commercial)?
  • The location of a business
  • Your claim history
  • Coverage level

Save on Idaho electricians insurance

These tips can help you save money on your business’s insurance.

  • Comparing quotes – You can determine the most suitable policy for you by looking at quotes.
  • Risk management – if you take steps to lower your risk, it could be possible to lower insurance premiums.
  • Pay your monthly premiums in advance – If you pay the annual cost of your premium (instead each month) you will save money.
  • Higher your deductible – You may be able to lower your premium by increasing your deductible. If you don’t have enough money to cover any potential claims, you might consider rethinking your decision.

FEEDBACK: In my personal opinion, your telephone customer service needs to be improved. Whomever basically and initially answers the phone calls lately needs a new headset, honestly. I know you record all of your calls; however, listening skills truly needs to be improved also, IMO and if I ask someone to please take a message, and they tell me they are going to do so, then follow through and send that message to the main person I'm trying to reach. I have had difficulty getting back to the "exact" insurance agent with whom I've been working with and it's been a bit frustrating handling this current 2025-2026 renewal.
BizInsure has always been a necessary and important business resource.
I spent several hours comparing quotes and itemized coverage options from multiple agencies, and BizInsure LLC came out on top. The process was fast, the pricing was competitive, and the experience was refreshingly straightforward. I’m looking forward to a continued, stress-free partnership with BizInsure.
